CHANNEL SELECTIVE

GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM-R, UMTS

A channel selective repeater selects an specific channel/s in the band in the frequency band and amplifies only this part.

CHANNEL SELECTIVE REPEATERS GENERAL FEATURES

  • It's necessary to configure the channel to amplify.
  • It's totally transparent to the BTS, but if the BTS change the channel it must be reconfigured in the repeater (by software and remote control).
  • They are used indoors and high traffic zones (hotspot).
  • RETEMSA offers channel selective repeaters that can amplify 1 or 2 channels.
  • It complies with ETSIT and 3GPP norms. It provides selective coverage without interferences to the competitor operators.

CHANNEL SELECTIVE REPEATERS SPECIFIC FEATURES

In GSM 900 the values to amplify are located between 890 - 915 MHz for the uplink (mobile-BTS communication) and 935 - 960 MHz for the downlink (BTS-mobile communication).

The GSM900 channels (200KHz BW) supports 8 simultaneous calls, thus RETEMSA's 2 channel repeater may support 16 simultaneous calls.

The GSM 900 technology is the most extended standard.

In GSM 1800 the values to amplify are located between 1710 - 1785 MHz for the uplink (mobile-BTS communication) and 1805 - 1880 MHz for the downlink (BTS-mobile communication).

The GSM1800 channels (200KHz BW) supports 8 simultaneous calls, thus RETEMSA's 2 channel repeater may support 16 simultaneous calls.

In GSM R the values to amplify are located between 876-880 MHz for the uplink (mobile-BTS communication) and 921 – 925 MHz for the downlink (BTS-mobile communication).

The GSMR channels (200KHz BW) supports 8 simultaneous calls, thus RETEMSA's 2 channel repeater may support 16 simultaneous calls.

The GSMR technology is the used one in Europe for railway communications.

In UMTS the values to amplify are located between 1920-1980 MHz for the uplink (mobile-BTS communication) and 2110– 2170 MHz for the downlink (BTS-mobile communication).

The UMTS channels (4,8MHz BW) supports 256 simultaneous calls, thus RETEMSA's repeaters with 2 channels may support 512 simultaneous calls.

This kind of repeater guarantees data transmissions in high speed (384 Kbps) at the same time that provides voice channels. It's suitable to its integration in the UMTS network. With HSDPA networks the data speed can increase up to 1.8 Mb/s or higher.

It optimizes the design of the UMTS networks providing improvements not only in coverage, also increasing the total capacity when there are high traffic points (hot spots).
